About Kayaking for Mental Health:
In kayaking, all body parts work as a single entity to navigate through the current. This offers you to deviate your mind from negative thoughts and think about positive ones. Consequently, the brain heals itself and improves mental health. Also, kayaking induces the release of chemicals in the body that lift confidence and self worth, thereby helping in lightening the mood.
Being out in the waters has a very soothing effect on the muscles of the brain, it helps reduce anxiety. Paddling helps you boost up the mood and lower levels of anxiety and depression. By setting paddling goals, one can easily free oneself from all troubles that cause the mind to be anxious. It is one of the best reasons to treat yourself to a journey kayaking, as not just a sport activity but a way to improve your mental wellness and relieve stress.
In the hyper-connected, media-soaked modern life we live in, finding a way to reconnect with nature and yourself is essential. Countless studies show that just being near water is incredibly beneficial for mental health. Kayaking eases anxiety, reduces depression, and increases self-esteem. Paddling serves as “ecotherapy,” or a form of natural therapy that uplifts the mind by surrounding yourself with nature.
Kayaking is a natural antidepressant and an antidote to those negative feelings. Kayaking releases “feel-good” chemicals, including endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin that boost your mood and your self-confidence! Plus, those same chemicals can also help you improve focus, so you’ll return to home or work with a clearer mind and better attention span.
The mere sight and sound of water can promote wellness by lowering the stress hormone known as cortisol, while increasing feel-good hormones like serotonin, according to Dr. Wallace Nichols, an award winning marine biologist
